A sum of $383.75 is incorrectly charged in the
Accounts against the Head "Miscellaneous”. The sum in
question was paid for the rent of offices for the
Inspector of Schools and should therefore have been
charged against the Head "Education", an additional
Sub-Head being introduced in the Account as explained in
Rule 37 of the Colonial Audit Regulations 1893 (revised
edition).
Plague Expenses.

Various payments on account of extra pay,
to Imperial Troops employed on special service in
connection with the Plague have been admitted on the
signatures of the Officers Commanding, it having been
explained by the Treasurer, in reply to a request from
my Department for individual receipts, that the men had,
in the meantime, left the Colony.
